Introducing... Lynda McCartney
Professional Tutor
18 Years Teaching - 8 years Private Tutoring

Specialties: Reading Remediation and Instruction, Dyslexia, Speech/Language Issues

Lynda has been professionally tutoring struggling readers for the past eight years. Her background in speech language pathology and special education has given her a strong understanding of how the brain processes language and how it relates to reading. She works primarily with dyslexic students who are struggling with reading, writing, spelling, and math. She also works with students who have fallen through the cracks at school and are struggling with decoding, comprehension or test taking strategies. She has developed teaching strategies and curriculum that have been instrumental in helping children make significant gains in reading growth in a relatively short period of time.

She also developed (and teaches) the R.E.A.D. series classes at the Winter Haven Public Library. These classes are designed to educate the public about struggling readers and how we can be proactive in helping them. Classes are free to the public, are offered once a month, and are sponsored by the City of Winter Haven.

Lynda's tutoring philosophy is "A child's mind can grow and learn to the extent that it is challenged." This produces results that "Exceeds All Expectations" in each and every student!
